Post-operative Advices

Before wearing the dental trays, brush your teeth and clean them with dental floss. To get the whitening gel, remove the syringe cap and install the applicator tip.

With a rotary movement, break out the end of the plug. As instructed by your dentist, apply a small amount of whitening gel on along the base before the dental tray.

Avoid overfilling the dental tray. Replace the cap on the applicator tip and place the syringe side until the next treatment.

Each syringe contains enough product for 3-5 treatments. Insert the dental tray in the mouth over the teeth. Press firmly the gutter on the teeth. Use your finger or a soft toothbrush, wipe the excess gel on the gums or on the tissues of the mouth.

Keep in the mouth for 1 hour, remove the gel, refill again and keep the whitening gel in the mouth for 1 hour. Remove the dental tray and rinse your teeth. With a toothbrush, gently remove the gel residue.

Clean the dental tray with a toothbrush and cold water, then wipe gently. Do not eat, drink or smoke while the tray is in the mouth.

During the term of your whitening treatment, it is recommended to avoid colored foods like tomato sauce, coffee, red wine, etc.

• Avoid range of motion.
• Wait until the anesthesia is gone before eating.
• Slight bleeding is normal, a drop of blood in the saliva and the mouth becomes red!
• If there is a more significant bleeding, make a pressure 10 minutes with a wet compress and a finger at the roof of the mouth.
• Avoid spitting; sucking will bring down the clot and bleeding persist.
• Take medication as prescribed, usually the first 48 hours and if necessary thereafter.
• Rinse mouth with salt water, 2 tbsp. soup in a glass of warm water (do not swallow), beginning 24 hours after surgery and continuing for two weeks after each meal and at bedtime.
• Do not brush the graft level of the first week but stamped with Q-tips and peroxide once a day.
• For the first 24 hours, eat cold, prevent heat and take soft foods by avoiding dairy products.
• Drink lots of water and eat more fruit.
• Avoid drinking through a straw, spitting and smoking for the duration of the healing.
• If something worrying you, please call me.

Wait that the anesthesia is disappeared before eating.

• Avoid any movement of big amplitude, grins, chew some gum or food long to chewe.
• A light bleeding is normal (1 drop of blood and all the mouth becomes red, as with a grape popsicle) but if there is more important bleeding, bite 10 minutes on wet compresses or on wet pocket of tea.
• Avoid spitting, drinkink with a straw it will make blood alot to fall to bleed and avoid smoking for period of 2 weeks.
• Place cold on the cheek in the angle of the jaw (like ice crushed in a wet face cloth) during 15 minutes every 4 hours for the first 24 hours only.
• Take medecine as prescribed, generally the first 48 hours and as needed afterward. The first day, if the effect is not sufficient, add 1 to 2 tablets of Acetaminophene 500 between every dose of Motrin.
• Rinse the mouth with salty water, 1 teaspoon in a glass of mild water, begin 24 hours after the surgery, for two weeks, 2 at 4 times a day (at every meal and at bedtime).
• For the first 24 hours, cold food, avoid any heat, and take food of soft consistency by avoiding dairy products more fruits and easy proteins like hummus is perfect.
• Brush well the tongue and the cheeks. (Without toothpaste with salty water.) From two days later.
• Wait 7 days before taking back the intense physical activities.
• If the region becomes swollen, it is maybe normal unless you have an impression of heat, difficulty swallowing or fever.
• If something is making you to worry, do not hesitate to phone me.

• Avoid any movement of large amplitude, grimaces, pull the cheek, chew gum or long chewing food for the week.
• Slight bleeding is normal. (1 drop of blood and every mouth becomes red, like a grape popsicle). Do not chew on for 2 weeks.
• Avoid spitting, drinking through a straw and smoking for the duration of the cure, or 2 weeks.
• Take medication as prescribed: 2 Decadron next day Decadron 1 the day after taking the antibiotic in full (if grafting), plus Motrin, usually the first 48 hours, adding extra strength Tylenol every 4 to 6 hours 2 hours after Motrin, if the effect is not enough.
• Rinse mouth with salt water, 2 tbsp. soup in a glass of warm water (do not swallow), beginning 24 hours after surgery, continuing for two weeks at 2 to 4 times a day (at each meal and at bedtime).
• For the first 24 hours, eat cold, prevent heat, and take soft foods by avoiding dairy products.
• While brushing the tongue and cheeks (without toothpaste with salt water) two days later.
• Allow 7 days before doing intense physical activity.
• If the area becomes swollen, with a feeling of warmth, difficulty swallowing or febrile (fever) or if something you worried, do not hesitate to call us.

COMPLETE OR PARTIAL IMMEDIATE

• Avoid any repeated or prononced movements.
• Wait until anaesthesia is disappeared before eating.
• A slight bleeding is normal.
• Wear prothesis immediately and for two days non-stop, even at night (24h a day).
• Avoid spitting, especially the first 24 hours.
• After 2 days, soak prosthesis at night in some fresh water after a good brushing with the toothbrush and regular tooth paste.
• Take medicine such as prescribed, generally the first 48 hours and as needed afterward.
• Rinse the mouth with salty water, 1-2 coffee spoon in one glasse of tepid water, beginning 24 hours after the surgery and continuing for two weeks, at the rate of 3 to 5 times a day.
• For the first 24 hours, eat cold or luke warm food and avoid any hot liquids such as soup, coffee or tea, and take softer food, easyer to chew by avoiding bread and sticky food.
• Avoid drinking with a straw, spitting 24h and Avoid smoking for a period of the cure (14 days).
• The salivation will be more important the first days, bring a bottle of water with you and to drink it often to avoid saliva to get sticky.
• Pratice to Speak in a loud voice during 15 minutes will help you to learn again to speak with a prosthesis.
• If something makes you to worry, do not hesitate to call.
